Editors at Hope magazine saw my image "Stage Fright" from the series "Do I Measure Up?..." in The Sun's Readers Write in March 1999. "Inspired", they asked me to accept an assignment to create a myserious spiritual image to accompany an upcoming story in their magazine about a New York waiter who, dispirited with his life, saved a diner's life and found new hope. I contacted and photographed on-site at three restaurants, including Postrio in San Francisco, and presented the editors with fifteen final images, representing a wide range of visual choices. They selected this one.
